Master Plan for National Water Management

What is the Master Plan for National Water Management?

Pursuant to Article 27 of the Framework Act on Water Management, the Minister of Environment, through cooperation with heads of central government agencies and chairmen of river basin management commissions, designs and implements a Master Plan for National Water Management, Korea's preeminent water management plan addressing water volumes, quality, and disasters, every 10 years with the approval of the Presidential Water Commission.

The Milestones

2021
  • Jun. 2021 Master Plan for National Water Management reviewed and decided (Subparagraph 1, Article 22 of the Framework Act on Water Management)
  • Apr. 2021 Public hearing held by the Presidential Water Commission (Subparagraph 1, Article 31 of the Framework Act on Water Management)
  • Jan. - Apr. 2021 Provisional Master Plan for National Water Management reviewed and supplemented by the Presidential Water Commission
2020
  • Dec. 2020 Provisional Master Plan for National Water Management submitted to the Presidential Water Commission
2017 ~ 2018
  • Jul. 2017 - Dec. 2018 Provisional Master Plan for National Water Management formed by the Ministry of Environment and presented for discussion
